Kelvin to Celsius Converter
Conversion Formula
°C = K - 273.15
| Kelvin (K) | Celsius (°C) | Example |
|---|---|---|
| 273.15 K | 0 °C | 273.15 - 273.15 = 0 °C |
| 293.15 K | 20 °C | 293.15 - 273.15 = 20 °C |
| 310.15 K | 37 °C | 310.15 - 273.15 = 37 °C |
| 373.15 K | 100 °C | 373.15 - 273.15 = 100 °C |
About Kelvin to Celsius Conversion
The Kelvin (K) and Celsius (°C) are two different scales for measuring temperature. The Kelvin scale is the SI base unit of temperature used in scientific contexts, while the Celsius scale is commonly used for everyday temperature measurements.
To convert Kelvin to Celsius, simply subtract 273.15 from the Kelvin temperature. The Kelvin scale is an absolute temperature scale, meaning 0 K is absolute zero, the theoretical lowest possible temperature. Unlike Celsius and Fahrenheit, the Kelvin scale does not use the degree symbol (°).
